OVERVIEW

Two-Day Akagera Safari transports you to Rwanda, the 'land of a thousand hills.' This two-day Rwanda safari visits the country's sole savannah national park, Akagera National Park. The national park is the ideal safari destination for spotting Africa's 'Big Five' animals in Rwanda, including the lion, leopard, buffalo, African Elephant, and Rhino. In addition to those mentioned, you can observe numerous other species of wildlife in the park, including topi, Sitatunga, antelopes, duikers, waterbucks, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and many others. This two-day Akagera safari commences and concludes in Kigali, Rwanda.

DAY 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Akagera.

• On Day 1 of your 2 Days Akagera Safari, you get picked up by your guide from Kigali International Airport or your designated hotel in Kigali city and be given a briefing about the 2 days Akagera safari. After that, you will be transferred to Akagera national park, which is just 212 hours from the city centre.
• After arriving at Akagera National Park, you will check in your lodge, depart on an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema, the largest of the 10 lakes within the park. Established in 1934 by the Belgian colonial administration, Akagera is the only savannah national park in Rwanda. The park is 1,122 square kilometres in size and is by far Rwanda's largest national park. You will have the opportunity to view the park's and lake's magnificent birdlife while on your cruise like the shoe bill stock, Suaza shrike, raptors, lesser kestrel, and the great sniper bird, to name a few, are prevalent birds that can be observed during a boat cruise in Akagera national park, which is home to more than 750 species of birds. The cruise typically lasts between one and two hours. After your boat cruise, you may adjourn to your lodge for the evening, or you may choose to go on a guided nature walk to discover the magnificent flora and fauna of Akagera National Park. Dinner and overnight stay at Ruzizi Tent Camp or Akagera Game Lodge.

DAY 2: Morning Game Drive and Transfer back to Kigali.

• On Day 2 of your 2 Days Akagera Safari. Wake up early in the morning and be served with breakfast. After an early morning breakfast then embark on a morning game excursion. Explore the park's breathtaking savanna and landscape. You will also have the opportunity to see elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, rhinoceros, and water bucks, to name a few, in the park. If you are fortunate, you will be able to observe all of the Big Five in the national park. Return to your lodge for lunch before being transferred back to Kigali. Depending on the time of your arrival in Kigali, your guide will either leave you off at your hotel in Kigali City or at Kigali International Airport after an optional city tour.
