OVERVIEW
The 3 Day Akagera excursion is a short Rwanda Safari excursion that will provide you with the best safari experience of your life in the park.
TOUR SUMMARY
- Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Akagera national park.
- Day 2: Full day game drive.
- Day 3: Cultural visit and back to Kigali.
DAY 1: Pick up and transfer to Akagera national park.
- On your first day of 3 days Akagera Tour. You will be met by a driver-guide from our company as early as 7 a.m. at the agreed pick-up location in Kigali, be it a hotel or the airport, and driven north to Akagera National Park. This is approximately two hours by car from Kigali. You will arrive at your accommodation in time for check-in, and then proceed to Lake Ihema for an afternoon cruise. This boat excursion provides an excellent vantage point for bird watching, as well as the opportunity to observe the aquatic life of Akagera national park, such as hippos and crocodiles, as they enjoy the waters of Lake Ihema. This journey lasts between two to three hours and departs at predetermined times. Return to your accommodation for a sumptuous dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 2: Full day game drive.
- On your second day of 3 days Akagera Tour. Wake up early in the morning and be served with breakfast. On this morning, you will rise and prepare for a full day in the park on wheels by having breakfast, packing lunches, and meeting your driver-guide for the full day game drive. There are numerous trails in Akagera national park where you can encounter the park's fauna, including rhinos, elephants, lions, and giraffes. Take a lunch break while you calm down admiring the parks landscape. After lunch you will go for the afternoon game drive. During the afternoon game drive, switch sectors to capture animals you may have missed earlier. Before the sun sets, return to your lodge and reflect on the day's adventures.
DAY 3: Cultural visit and back to Kigali.
- On your third day of 3 days Akagera Tour. Wake up early in the morning and take breakfast, after breakfast if you are interested, you may participate in a cultural tour of Akagera national park before departing for Kigali if you wish. You will then exit the park, and on a good day, you may have the opportunity to see more of the park's animals if you couldn't get enough or overlooked them in Akagera National Park on previous days. Arrive in Kigali and be dropped off at the agreed-upon location in Kigali. If you have the time, you can visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Grounds and the Kimironko market to get a good deal on some local goods.
