OVERVIEW
Gombe stream national park is located in the western part of Tanzania at the shores of Lake Tanganyika. Gombe National Park is well recognized for housing the first chimpanzees in Africa to have ever been habituated, which explains why it is a popular safari destination for chimpanzee trekking. In addition to chimpanzee trekking, the park offers additional activities like hiking, birding safaris, and nature walks. Gombe also has baboons, vervet monkeys, colobus monkeys, dik diks. The regional capital of Tanzania's western province, Kigoma town, which is situated on the beaches of the stunning Lake Tanganyika, is the gateway to Gombe National Park.

DAY 1: Fly to Kigoma
- On your first day of 3 days chimpanzee trekking in Gombe National Park, you will catch you flight either from Arusha or dar-es salaam and you will fly to Kigoma. Your safari guide will meet you at the airport and take you to one of two locations: Ujiji Town, where you can have a tour of the Dr. David Livingstone Memorial Centre, or Kibirizi Port with the lunch enroute, where you can take a boat to Gombe National Park. Where you will reach during the night and check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 2: Chimpanzee trekking in Gombe National Park
- On your second day of 3 days chimpanzee trekking in Gombe National Park, Get up early and travel to the park headquarters by 8:00 am for a briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during chimpanzee trekking with your packed lunch, before heading to the forest to look for the human distant ancestors. After the briefing you will grouped into different groups of about 8 people per group with the presence of the armed guide to the forest to look for the chimpanzees, the walking activity can last anywhere between 30 minutes and four hours. Along the way looking for chimpanzees you will spot various biodiversity along, and once the chimpanzees are located you will be given a period of one hour to be in presence of chimpanzees while watching them feed, play, grooming, as this is the time to take pictures and recording the videos of chimpanzees. After chimpanzee trekking, you trek to Jane's Peak and then see Kakombe Waterfalls. And later you will get back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 3: Depart Gombe.
- On the third day of 3 days chimpanzee trekking in Gombe National Park. Wake up early in the morning and take breakfast. After eating breakfast, you will be driven to Kigoma Airfield, where you will board a flight to Dar-es Salaam, where you will either catch a flight home or be driven to the location of your choice.
