OVERVIEW
This 6-day safari takes you to visit chimpanzees, wildlife, and gorillas in Uganda includes transfers from Kibale National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you can search for lions in Ishasha sector of the park. The highlight of your 6-day safari in Uganda will take you to the mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

DAY 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale forest national park.
- On the first day of the 6 Days Uganda Chimps, Wildlife & Gorilla Safari, your driver guide will meet you wherever you are in Kampala and give you a brief introduction to the safari before setting out to Kibale National Park. The journey takes 5 to 6 hours to the park along the way you will enjoy breathtaking views of the locals, countryside, traditional homesteads, Rwenzori Mountains, tea plantations, and many more. Along the way you will have en-route lunch in Fort Portal and then continue the journey to Kibale national park and upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 2: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park.
- On the second day of the 6 Days Uganda Chimps, Wildlife & Gorilla Safari, wake up early in the morning and be served with a relaxed breakfast. After breakfast, you then check out the lodge and meet your driver guide to make the transfer to the Kanyachu Visitors Centre, where you will receive a briefing on the guidelines and expectations for chimpanzee trekking. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest National Park can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where they are because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. You will be assigned a chimpanzee family to trek with and a park guide who is familiar with the forest's routes after the briefing. Once the chimpanzees have been located, you will spend an hour with them in their natural habitat where you will have the opportunity to learn more about their lifestyle, behaviors, watch them feed, enjoy the juveniles playing up in the trees, take photos and record videos with a flash less camera, and more.
- After one hour you will go back to the park headquarters to receive the chimpanzee trekking certificates for taking part in chimpanzee trekking and meet your driving guide and continue your trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will stop for lunch along the way, then continue on to the park, where you will go on an afternoon wildlife drive to see creatures like elephants, buffalo, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, bushbucks, and warthogs, among others including the bird species. After the game drive you will drive to the lodge check in, have dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 3: Morning game drive/lion tracking and afternoon boat cruise.
- On the third day of the 6 Days Uganda Chimps, Wildlife & Gorilla Safari. Wake up early in the morning and be served with a delicious breakfast. After breakfast meet your safari guide and takes you for a morning game drive/lion tracking experience in Kasenyi plains. The big four mammals lions, leopards, elephants, and buffaloes as well as other creatures like waterbucks, bushbucks, and Uganda kobs will all be visible during the game drive, along with several bird species. You will return to the lodge for lunch after the game drive.
- After lunch, you'll embark on an amazing boat cruise down the waterway that connects Lake George and Lake Edward, Kazinga channel. You will see a lot of hippos and Nile crocodiles in the water during the boat cruise, which lasts for about two to three hours. You can also see buffalo, elephants, and warthogs drinking water along the banks, as well as a variety of waterbirds, including the hamerkops, yellow-billed stork, cormorants, hornbills, African skimmer, Egptian goose, African Jacana and fish eagles. During the boat cruise, you may observe fisherman setting up their gear for night fishing, you can take the stunning pictures during the boat cruise. After the boat cruise you will go for enroute evening game drive where you will be able to view some of the animals that you missed in the morning and later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight as above.
DAY 4: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park via Ishasha sector.
- On the fourth day of the 6 Days Uganda Chimps, Wildlife & Gorilla Safari. You will wake up early in the morning and have a hearty breakfast. After breakfast check out from your lodge, and then meet your driver-guide to travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The journey takes you between four and five hours to reach, and along the way, you'll pass through Ishasha sector for an exciting enroute game drive. Here, you can see elephants, buffalo, Uganda kobs, hippos, and tree climbing lions lying up in acacia and fig tree branches, among other animals. After the game drive in Ishasha sector you will have en-route lunch and then continue to Bwindi impenetrable national park and upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 5: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
- On the fifth day of the 6 Days Uganda Chimps, Wildlife and Gorilla safari. Wake up early in the morning and take breakfast, after breakfast you will then carry a packed lunch from the lodge and meet your driver guide to proceed to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing, a habituated gorilla family to trek with and a park guide who is knowledgeable about the many gorilla paths will be assigned to you in your different groups of 8 people per group. Depending on where the gorillas are, gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park might take anything from 30 minutes to 6 hours. This is because gorillas tend to roam about in search of food. Trekking will allow you to see incredible vistas of many primates, animals, plants, and bird species. Once the gorillas have been located, you will be able to spend an hour with them in their natural environment, giving you the chance to learn more about their habits, observe them as they engage in daily activities like feeding, nursing, and playing, as well as take pictures and video to share with family and friends back home. After the one hour you will go back to the starting point to receive the gorilla trekking certificates for taking part in the park. And after your driver guide will take you back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
DAY 6: Departure to Kampala
- On the final day of the 6 Days Uganda Chimps, Wildlife & Gorilla Safari, you will have a leisurely breakfast before checking out of the lodge and meeting your guide for the transfer back to Kampala. You will stop for lunch along the way in Mbarara at Igongo cultural centre, then continue your adventure with a second stop at the Equator to take pictures and shop for souvenirs. You will travel from the Equator to Kampala, where you will arrive in the early evening. Your driver-guide will then drop you off at the Entebbe International Airport in time for your flight home or any other place in Kampala like your hotel.
