OVERVIEW
3 Days the Akagera Wildlife Safari is a brief but action-packed safari excursion where visitors can participate in the park's wildlife encounters. This tour begins and concludes in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. This tour features a cruise on Lake Ihema, wildlife viewing, and a cultural excursion/community visit as highlights.
TOUR SUMMARY
- Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and Transfer to Akagera National Park.

DAY 1: Pick up from Kigali and Transfer to Akagera National Park.
- On your first day of 3 days Akagera wildlife safari. Your safari guide will meet you at the Kigali airport or at your hotel and give you a briefing about the safari upon your arrival. And embark your journey to Akagera National Park, which is approximately 2.5 hours away by car. Rwanda's Akagera National Park is a collection of natural marvels. It is also the only national park in the nation where the Big Five can be observed. This park was established in 1934 and encompasses an area of 1,122 km2. The park is abundantly endowed with numerous species of wildlife, including giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, elephants, rhinoceros, lions, leopards, antelopes, impalas, topi, servals, and many others. As it is home to various bird species, Akagera national park is an ideal location for bird viewing in Rwanda. There are approximately ten lakes in Akagera national park, with Lake Ihema and Lake Shakani being the most renowned for boat cruises and fishing tournaments, respectively.
- After arriving at Akagera national park you will check into your lodge, you will embark on an afternoon wildlife drive that typically lasts between one and two hours. During your game drive, keep an eye out for hyenas, jackals, zebras, waterbuck, duikers, and elephants, among other animals. After the game drive you will drive to your lodge in the evening, freshen up, dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 2: Morning game drive and Evening Boat Cruise.
- On your second day of 3 days Akagera wildlife safari. Get up early in the morning and take breakfast. After an early morning breakfast, embark on a morning wildlife drive. Explore the park's breathtaking savanna and landscape. You will also have the opportunity to see elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, rhinoceros, and waterbucks, to name a few, in the park. You will return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation respite before embarking on an evening cruise on Lake Ihema. During your boat excursion, you will be able to observe the park's magnificent wildlife, including Nile Crocodiles, Hippos, and water birds such as the marabou stork, herons, and African fish eagle. After your boat cruise, you can elect to go on a guided nature walk to discover the magnificent flora and fauna of Akagera National Park. Return to your lodge for dinner and a restful evening.
DAY 3: Transfer back to Kigali.
- On your third day of 3 days Akagera wildlife safari. Get up early in the morning and have a leisurely breakfast and then check out of your Lodge for Kigali city tour: Depart for a half-day excursion of Kigali City, depending on the time of your return flight. During your city tour of Kigali, you can visit the Kigali genocide memorial centre, camp Kigali, the residence of Richard Kandt, the Nyamirambo Women's Centre, the Caplaki craft village, and the Kimironko market, where you can purchase souvenirs for yourself and your loved ones back home. Eventually, your safari guide will deliver you to Kigali International Airport or your hotel.
