DAY 1: Pick up from Kigali, Transfer to Nyungwe National Park.
- On the first day of 5 days Rwanda Safari. Our company's Rwanda safari guide will pick you up from your hotel or the airport in Kigali, Rwanda, upon your arrival. And give you a briefing about the safari. After being briefed on your 5 Day Rwanda Safari, you will embark on a 2-hour city tour of Kigali, visiting the Genocide Memorial, city markets, and the former presidential palace museum.
- Subsequently, transfer to Nyungwe National Park, which is approximately a five-hour journey through scenic areas of the surrounding communities with stunning views of the natural landscape and some stops, including a lunch enroute. Proceed to the lodge for check-in, relaxing while waiting for dinner, and spend the night at Gisakura Guest House for Budget, Nyungwe Top View Hotel for Mid-Range, or Nyungwe Forest Lodge for Luxury.
DAY 2: Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy Walk in Nyungwe National Park.
- On the second day of 5 days Rwanda Safari. Get up early in the morning and get served with breakfast. After a very early breakfast at the lodge, meet with your guide and head to the briefing centre for your chimpanzee trekking excursion. After the briefing you will be divided in the group of 6 people in the company of knowledgeable guides and armed rangers, trekking chimpanzees can take two to six hours. While trekking chimpanzees in Nyungwe National Park, keep an eye out for other fauna, flora and among others. After finding the chimpanzees you will be given one hour to be in the presence of chimpanzees watching them play, feed, grooming and among others, more so, taking their pictures and recording their videos. After chimpanzee trekking meet your safari guide and go back to the lodge for lunch.
- After lunch, you will embark on a canopy trek. Nyungwe national Park's canopy walkway provides a bird's-eye view of the park, where you can search for more fauna. Return to the lodge after canopy walk and unwind in anticipation of dinner and an overnight stay, as described above.
DAY 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.
- On the third day of 5 days Rwanda Safari. Wake up and, enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the lodge, check out, and then transfer to Volcanoes National Park via Rwanda's beautiful countryside and rolling hills, with a lunch halt along the way. As you wait for dinner and an overnight stay at Hotel Muhabura for Budget, Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge for Mid-Range, or 5 Volcanoes Lodge for Luxury, check in and unwind at the lodge.
DAY 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park, Gorilla Guardians’ Visit.
- On the fourth day of 5 days Rwanda Safari. Wake up early in the morning and get served with a hearty breakfast. After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will depart for the Kinigi headquarters for a pre-gorilla tracking briefing. In your groups of eight, you will be assigned a gorilla group after the briefing. The gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park takes between one and six hours, as these primates keep on moving deep in the jungles looking and once found you are only permitted one hour to observe the gorillas playing, feeding, grooming, and so on. After one hour you will get back to the starting point to get your gorilla tracking certificate.
- Return for lunch to your lodge. Later, visit the Gorilla Guardians, who are reformed poachers trained to protect the gorillas and other animals in Volcanoes National Park. Enjoy observing and participating in traditional dances. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay as described previously.
DAY 5: Golden Monkey Trekking, Departure.
- On the fifth day of 5 days Rwanda Safari. Similar to gorilla tracking, after an early breakfast at the lodge, embark on an adventure in quest of golden monkeys. Golden primates are known to approach so closely that they are capable of playing with the cameras. After one hour with the golden monkeys, check out and have lunch at the lodge. The transfer return to Kigali will take between two and three hours, and you will be dropped off at the airport or your hotel in Kigali. This concludes your 5-day safari in Rwanda.
